Driver / Fleet Officer

About the role

World Vision, which works with vulnerable children in nearly 100 countries, is looking for a Driver / Fleet Officer based in its Port Vila country office. The role covers safe and reliable transport of staff, partners and guests to project sites and communities, vehicle care and maintenance, and compliance with safety and security rules. Key responsibilities

• Transport project staff, partners and guests to project sites, communities and meetings using the booking system and following the Vehicle Policy, security guidelines and journey plans.
• Plan routes and timing, communicate proactively about delays and changes, and deliver goods, cheques, LPOs and documents on time.
• Complete the vehicle log sheet accurately for every trip until an online version is available.
• Perform daily pre-trip checks (tyres, fluids, lights, brakes, safety equipment), keep vehicles clean and fuelled, and arrange servicing, repairs and inspections with Procurement and Logistics.
• Maintain records of services, fuel, repairs and spare parts, and carry out basic roadside repairs where safe.
• Complete the "Driving with WV" course (renewed every two years), sign the Vehicle Policy, and keep a valid driver's licence and safety equipment in each vehicle.
• Report accidents, incidents and near misses immediately, comply with the Code of Conduct and child protection policies, and file documents such as cash advance acquittals and travel requests.
• Be available for disaster response and other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Five years' experience as a driver, with knowledge of local transport rules.
• Secondary school education and a valid driver's licence for the assigned vehicle types, including a motorcycle licence if a motorcycle is assigned.
• Clean driving record.
• Able to drive for long periods, load and unload light goods, and communicate in English and Bislama.
• Preferred: basic vehicle maintenance, safety and first aid knowledge, and some understanding of NGO operations.

Required skills

• Basic computer literacy in Microsoft Office and the internet.
• Good attention to detail, communication and ability to work independently and in a team.
